Class Overview

Welcome to "Clay Creations," a fun and engaging art class designed specifically for young artists aged 4 to 6! Over the course of seven weeks, children will embark on a hands-on journey into the world of clay, where they will learn to manipulate, shape, and transform this versatile medium into delightful functional and decorative objects.

What to Expect

In this one-hour class, each session will focus on different techniques and projects that encourage creativity and self-expression. Our experienced instructors will guide the little artists through the following activities:

  • Clay Manipulation: Children will learn how to knead, roll, pinch, and mold clay into various shapes and forms. This foundational skill is crucial for developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Joining Techniques: Young artists will discover how to join pieces of clay together using simple methods such as scoring and slipping. This technique will enable them to create more complex structures and designs.
  • Tool Exploration: Students will have access to a variety of child-safe tools that can be used to carve, texture, and embellish their creations. They'll learn how different tools can change the look and feel of their artwork.
  • Functional and Fun Projects: Each week, we’ll work on exciting projects that might include making bowls, animal figures, or whimsical ornaments. The emphasis will be on both functionality and fun, allowing children to create items they can use or display proudly at home.
