Beginner Watercolor (Ages 10–15)

Discover the flow, transparency, and surprise of watercolor.

Designed for young artists ages 10–15, this 7-week beginner class introduces the essential skills of watercolor through engaging projects and step-by-step guidance. Whether you're new to painting or looking to grow your skills, you'll learn how to control—and embrace—the unique qualities of watercolor.

Students will explore washes, layering, color mixing, texture, value, and composition through projects inspired by nature, still life, landscapes, and imagination, helping them build both technical skills and creative confidence.

Along the way, students will learn how to create depth, mix vibrant color, and use watercolor's transparency to make their paintings come alive.

During class, students will:

  • Learn core watercolor techniques, including washes, layering, and color mixing
  • Experiment with texture, value, and composition
  • Create finished paintings to take home each week
  • Build confidence through guided, hands-on projects
  • Strengthen observational skills while developing their own creative approach

No experience is needed. All paints, brushes, paper, and supplies are included.
