Take your drawing skills from the sketchbook to the screen!
In this 7-week class, students will explore the tools and techniques artists use to create digital illustrations. Using Procreate for iOS or Sketchbook (Android) drawing software, students will learn how traditional art skills such as drawing, composition, color, and shading translate into a digital workspace.
Students will explore sketching, linework, color, layers, brushes, textures, blending, and other digital techniques while creating original artwork. Projects may include character design, landscapes, illustration, pattern, and other subjects that give students opportunities to develop their own ideas and personal style.
Along the way, students will learn how to organize layers, adjust and transform parts of an image, experiment with different brushes and effects, and use digital tools to revise their work without losing the qualities of hand-drawn art.
This class is designed for both students who already enjoy making digital art and those who are just getting started. The emphasis is on learning the tools, experimenting with different approaches, and using technology as another way to make art.
Class Details
Please Note: Students must provide their own tablet, stylus, and digital drawing software. Procreate for iOS or Sketchbook (Android) is recommended, but students using comparable drawing software are welcome.
