Drawing Foundations 2

Ages 7–10

Take your drawing skills to the next level!

Drawing Foundations 2 builds on the basic skills young artists need to draw with greater confidence and independence. Students will explore more challenging subjects and techniques while continuing to develop their understanding of line, shape, proportion, texture, value, and composition.

Each week introduces a new drawing challenge designed to strengthen observation and problem-solving skills. Students may explore subjects such as animals, people, objects, landscapes, perspective, light and shadow, and imaginative drawing while working with pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, ink, and other drawing materials.

Rather than simply following step-by-step drawings, students will learn how to look closely, break complicated subjects into manageable shapes, and make their own artistic decisions.

Students who have taken Drawing Foundations will find new challenges that build on what they have already learned, butDrawing Foundations 1 is not required. New students are welcome!
